Exciting News

Just found out last week that I have been awarded a full scholarship for my Masters Degree from Boys Town. It will not be a Masters in Education it's a Master of Science in Youth and Family Services. It's quite a gift and quite an honor to be awarded. My new classes begin March 15th, about a week after this class ends. Just enough time to breathe. This means that I will still have to take 3 more hours to renew my certificate. Bellevue University is not a teacher accredited university (they don't have a teacher ed. program) so the classes I will be taking there will not count towards my certificate.

Enjoying the extra time!

As we are beginning week 5 I am glad that I have my curriculum unit done. It is allowing me extra time to devote to my job and kids. I am going to use the lesson on cyber bullying with my Boys Town boys. We'll see what their thoughts are.

Too bad I don't have my own classroom right now.

I am learning so much in this class. I just completed my curriculum unit and I am very excited about what I learned. If I was teaching right now I would have so many great things that I could incorporate into my lessons. I am very glad that I have taken this class and worked through these projects. I am amazed at all the great tools available for the classroom on the internet.

I completed the worksheets for my unit. I am unsure about whether I am supposed to just leave them as a link on the unit overview page or if I am supposed to post the links to them on this blog, as well.

Completed my website and my curriculum overview ws

I am thrilled to say that I have completed my webpage and linked my curriculum overview page to it. It works and it is nothing short of a miracle, for someone like me, someone who really knows nothing about technical stuff. Check it out on the link on the left.

Website to check out

I just checked out engrade. http://www.engrade.com. It is a great site where teachers can keep track of grades for students, show instant progress reports, post assignments and both parents and students have access to this at all times. Currently, at Boys Town, we are using PowerSchool to keep track of students' grades. It is very helpful because we can immediately pull up each students' account and see current grades, missing assignments, upcoming assignments and tests, etc. If your school does not have a program already in place, like this, I highly recommend checking out engrade. It's a huge time saver and so much more efficient than a paper grade book.
